Update: Airport back to normal after 'security incident'

WARWICK — Operations appear normal now at T.F. Green Airport after
a man was taken into custody when a "suspicious item" was found in his
    carry-on bag at about 5:30 a.m.

The second floor of the main terminal was cleared of passengers and
a bomb squad from the state Fire Marshal's Office removed the item,
which was later found to be safe, said Joseph Salter, federal security
director at Green for the Transportation Security Administration.

"It was not explosive," Salter said.

Salter would not identify the item, release the man's name or
provide any more information on his identity. The man is being
questioned by the police, including federal officials, Salter said.

Salter said other passengers were cleared from the main terminal
security checkpoint area and moved downstairs. Some waited outside.

The airport police requested assistance this morning from the state
police, who received word around 7 a.m. that their assistance was no
longer needed, according to the state police.

As of 7:50 a.m., the situation at Green appeared to be returning to
normal. A line of passengers was moving through security relatively
quickly. Only 10 minutes earlier, the line had snaked through the
    terminal, ending near entrance doors.

Bill McInnis, who is returning to Sioux City, Iowa, after visiting
his son in Warwick, said he saw a bomb squad when he arrived at the
    airport around 7 a.m.

Salter acknowledged that some passengers might have missed flights
or been delayed, but, he said, if a mistake is to be made, it would be
made on the side of safety.

    *******************************************

Want to know what the "suspicious item" was that caused all this commotion?
A cd case that said something like if you touch this it will blow up…..
    Yup.
    It's true.
    Swear to God.

Now you want to know how I know it's true?
Remember the FBI guy and his wife in Alaska?
It's my connection with him, so I know everything now.
    Nah, just kidding….

    This was my cousin!!!
Poor guy was just trying to get home after visiting for a week….
    Unfreakingbelievable!

We are laughing about it now but I tell you, at the time….we were so not.
It was ridiculous and such a friggin' overreaction it's not even funny.

I mean come on….if I'm trying to board a plane with explosives do you really think I'm going to mark the fucking cd case with "explosive"??? How stupid is that??
Wouldn't you mark it "rainbows & butterflies" or "soft soothing music"….or "gay man's guide to anal sex."
    <shaking head>

Unreal and if it didn't happen to someone I know, I would swear there was more to the story…no way would I believe this really happened….

    But, it did.
    For real.

    Nice, huh?
Some FBI guy that was talking to my cousin Billiejo while trying to figure everything out that happened with my detained cousin,  told her that some mayor wound up missing his flight to the inauguration because of all this hoopla…..maybe someone should've warned Seany not to fly today, of all days.

Oh and get this…they refused to return his cds and case and his cd player.
    Refused.
AFTER they found it to be safe.
How the hell is that not stealing??
Cause you know some TSA agent took off with that shit….what jerks.

I'm saving my love/loathe list for tomorrow.
This was way more interesting to post about!

  • Got new glasses with Ceci's Christmas gift to me and here they are, finally. LOL
I'm so not loving this pic, but it works. I took it with my phone. Well, Zak took it, actually.

I so need my hair done too. Geez…the more I look the more I realize what a horrible picture this actually is. But the glasses rock, huh???  ha! I love them! I'm so happy!!!

  • So, I was reading something online and it was a survey about men…okay, it was a sex survey…but whatever.

Anyway in this survey they were asking the men about shaving….and do you know what they are calling it when a man shaves "down there".

    A bro-zillion!

    hahahahahaha!!!!!!

    freakin' hysterical!!!
    I love it!!

Just my little schooling of the day.
    Consider yourself educated!!!
    ha!

  • Kayla put Ben in the Christmas tree!
    Love it!!
    Ben loves it too!!

  • Love:

    • Getting an awesome, very generous, surprising gift from a good friend. Well…I shouldn't say surprising…it is so like this friend to do something like, but I was surprised when I opened the card! lol
    • My cousin Seany is visiting!! Cannot WAIT to see him…haven't seen him in 12 years and I so miss him.
    • 3 way phone calls
    • getting my hair appointment..Feb. 3rd. I also cannot WAIT for this. lol
    • being in touch with a childhood friend
    • talking to my cousin Billiejo more

    Loathe:

    • spoiled friggin' brats.
    • not being able to talk to Ceci every day.
    • stress makes me gain weight
    • the fact that I have gray hairs and still get breakouts. WTF? So not cool…
    • the economy
    • spelling certain words wrong consistently….so annoying!
    • the entitled attitude that is rampant among the younger generation
    • not getting so much as an acknowledgment, let alone a thank you, for doing something for someone.
    • missing an hour of american idol because the guide on the t.v screwed up.
    • having only 2 hours a day to get any "thinking' stuff done. I can clean with Ben around all day long. Cannot do anything that requires concentration because the kid is so constent. Only 7 more months to go and he'll be in school full time. <sigh>
    • Patriots losing McDaniels and Pioli.
    • vox acting all weird like.

    🙂

  • I feel so bad for Juneau right now!!

    Not again!

    Talk about bad luck!!
    Ugh!!!

One thing that's good is at least it happened AFTER Christmas and maybe this will motivate everyone who likes to leave their Christmas lights up until April, to take them down??
Okay…bad joke…just trying to find the bright side!

I'm hoping it gets fixed soon!!

  • how effin' hard it is to find a hairdresser when you move???
    I'm going nuts.

Because of a very, very generous birthday gift (Kim….I am still speechless…you are too good to me.) I can get my hair done–FINALLY. 7 months since I've had it done and I am so ready.

But finding a stylist has been HARD.

Someone needs to start a blog/board/database for stylists in Nashua, NH.
With reviews, what their specialties are….all that kind of stuff.
The information is out there but you have to hunt and hunt and hunt and even then it's hard to find "reviews".

It's just frustrating…but I think I found one and I'm excited. My mommy called for me to find out pricing, how long out I have to make an appointment and stuff and it's 2-3 weeks until I can get an appointment! UGH!!! The price is very reasonable, so I think I am going to go with them….but I so don't want to wait that long! My mom thinks if I call and whine, they might fit me in sooner. LOL
    We'll see! Wish me luck!!!

    And someone start that database.
Although I will say I think a part of my hesitation is the whole new stylist thing. Pretty much only one stylists has touched my head in the past 15 years and she knows me and my hair so well and I know her so well, it's hard to switch. lol. And I'm not so good with change….LOL

But desperation and generosity have put me in a position where I'm ready to take the plunge….

    New stylist, here I come!

  • I am an absolute quote freak…I collect them and love them and someday the walls in my house will be covered in quotes and lyrics….:-) I so cannot wait to do that!

Here are a couple that I've come across in the last month or so…

"Live your life in such a way that when you wake up in the morning and
    your feet hit the floor, Satan shudders and says;
    "Oh crap…she's awake."

I so want to paint this over the wall of my bed! How hysterical is this?? Obviously meant tongue in cheek bad…not truly evil bad. I love it!

"Unless life also hands you water and sugar,
    your lemonade is gonna suck"

Ha! How awesome is that??? Although I truly do live by the "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade" philosophy, I found this quote pretty intriguing. I guess this one would have to be reserved for a truly, down in the dumps, no matter what I do, life sucks kind of day. Right? I just love having a quote for every kind of day…LOL

  • and I'm doing GREAT.

Zak and I both decided that after my bday we were gonna smarten up and get back to on track….as far as eating good and trying to lose a little bit of weight. Both of us have gained weight back since our major weight loss a few years ago and we want to do something about it before  it gets out of control…lol.

Over the course of the few years it has taken me to gain the weight back I have learned a few things.

    • As a general rule, I don't gain weight from eating. As long as I am not on some out of control binge fest, I can eat normally with splurges and treats here and there and not gain weight from it. It's only when other circumstances factor in that I gain weight, which leads me to some of these other things….
    • Starving yourself is completely counterproductive. I got so scared of gaining weight that I would not eat…totally sabatoged myself in the process..and made myself gain weight.
    • I gain weight when I get stressed out. This is big deal. I now know that when I am majorly stressed out, I need to watch what I eat, bigtime and exercise to keep from gaining weight.
    • My husband thinks I'm hot and adores me, no matter what I weigh. He makes me feel so good and he makes me want to try harder to look good for him. Silly? Perhaps….but he didn't marry a chubby woman and I'd like to try to keep myself as close to what he did marry as I reasonably can. But it's nice to know he still finds me attractive even if I can't acheieve that goal.
    • I really hate how my body looks past a certain weight and it affects my sex life. Not cool.  My libidio seriously plummets when I'm unhappy with how I look and that is so not good for me or my marriage.
    • Eating every 3 hours is the best advice I have ever been given….it makes you feel like you are constantly eating and keeps your metabolism going.
    • I will always loathe drinking water. Seriously. I hate it. With a passion.

Now…armed with this knowledge….I'm excited and happy to be back on track!!
I figure by Jaime's bday I should be back down to where I'm happy and everything beyond that is a bonus.

    Go me!!

  • I saw this today and thought it was the neatest thing!

    Paint the Plane!

What a great idea, huh?? I thought it was really cool.
Because Alaska Airlines has such a fantastic safety record, really funny and friendly employees, and they really are a good airlines, a lot of people love them. I personally enjoy flying with Alaska Airlines and do think they are one of the best carriers I have ever flown.
Having said that I also think they royally screw the people of Juneau and will continue to do so until another competing airlines comes into Juneau and STAYS there. I think Juneau is their cash cow and they ain't about to give that up anytime soon.

But I'm willing to concede that there is a whole hell of a lot I don't know about airlines and so maybe there is a very good reason why they charge what they charge. All I know is it cost me the same amount of money to fly to Seattle from Juneau (909 miles) as it does to fly from Seattle to Boston (3,000+ miles). There's just something wrong with that, in my book. But meh….whatever. Again, I concede that there is a lot I don't know so maybe there's a good reason and far be it for me to judge. Right? Right.

Anyway, I think this paint the plane contest was an awesome idea and I can't wait until it's done so I can see pictures of it. I think it's going to look fantastic!

Another little item that caught my eye today.

What I've been saying all along….

We all know what I think of that whole saga. I am firmly in the Team Aniston camp.
I believe that Angelina Jolie has no regard for anyone but herself when it comes to something she really wants. This woman just likes other people's men. Brad Pitt was not the first married or betrothed man she has fell for. Let's not forget Billy Bob Thorton was engaged to Laura Dern when he ran off with Angelina Jolie. Laura Dern has said that she went off to make a movie and came home and found out her fiance had gotten married….nice, huh?
Anyway, I just see a track record with this woman….and I just don't care for her and I never have. Now, I admire the charity work she does and stuff but….I just don't care for her in general.

    Anyway….

I have always believed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had feelings for each other on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith but I don't believe anything ever "happened" on the set. I believed that they did not act on any feelings they may have had. But I think when Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston separated, for whatever reason, Angelina Jolie was the first place he ran. I like that this interview with Brad Pitt confirms that. It makes me happy that I believed the best in people and found out it was true. Now the haters will insist he is full of shit and say of course he is going to say that….but I was happy to read what he said.

Just a couple of things that I came across today that made me think and I thought I'd share! 🙂
