    I liked Mariah when she first came on the scene with those pipes of hers.  It was refreshing.  I think I had her first three albums.  I remember as a young girl how mesmerized I was by someone who was average looking, talented, and humble.  But, over time I’ve lost interest because she’s become too breath-y and rather sleezy looking.  I don’t think she uses those pipes much like she used to do except on special occasions when singing in church or the Star Spangled Banner.

    Despite my harsh criticism here, I think it’s cool you two connect in that way.  It’s refreshing to see adults still getting into sharing this kind of thing.  I know Dave gets really pumped with music and it really has a special affect on his life.   I’ve noticed that a lot of people our age just sort of evolve into old fogies.  They no longer have any interests or passion.  I think that’s sad.  I hate it that the only connections a lot of people share are materialistic– not much depth or meaning.  Depth and meaning is something I definitely see in you both and that is totally awesome.

    I hope you won’t be too angry :)  Just sharing my menial opinions:D

    Oh, and I like Gwen Stefani and she can’t sing worth shit and her outfits are pretty sleezy.

    Mariah certainly has changed and where some feel she isn’t using her voice in the same way, other’s feel she’s just less “manufactured”. I think no matter the opinion, the bottom line is that the woman has a gift from God. Her voice is spectacular. I’ve seen her silence a crowd of 5,000 people with a hum. Her voice is THAT good live. It’s perfection, seriously. Of course, I am superfan so I’m the wrong person to be talking to about her voice! I think she’s using it in different ways and for me, I think she’s more comfortable NOW being who she is then when she first blasted onto the scene. And I mean that in terms of using her voice and her image. Her image is fun to me, I don’t think she takes herself seriously and I think THAT gets misconstrued by many…

    And yeah, i agree that many people “grow out” of artists. Not J and I. We’re completely immature and we love every second of it!

    I so know what you are talking about with Mariah. I adore Mariah Carey, I own every album and know pretty much every single song by heart (even the bsides and rare ones…slipping away, J?) and I think she is amazing, but I will admit I got a little frustrated with the “breathy” voice after so many albums with it used constantly. I love when she SINGS. I love her voice, period, but I was getting a little “bored” with the majority of the songs being sung in falsetto. Not bored enough to not love the songs, mind you..but a little bored. But she totally rejuvenated me with her last album and I LOVED it. And I am hoping this next one is just as good. And I agree with J…I think she now sings in the way she is most comfortable and the way she enjoys to.. And I do love it…The clothes?? Yeah..the clothes. lol. She’s been looking a lot better lately but I think for awhile there she was insisting she was 2 sizes smaller than she actually was and was trying to fit into the 2 sizes smaller clothes!! lol. I don’t think she’s sleezy, I think her clothes are sexy and she looks great, when they FIT. The woman was never fat, but I swear the clothes she was wearing for awhile there were not very flattering for her, at all. But again, she has been looking a whole lot better lately. Not that that matters to me really…how she dresses. She could sing naked for all I care. I just wanna hear her sing! lol.and nope..J and I will NEVER outgrow this….we’ll be 97 years old and STILL oohing and aahhing over every note and word!!!

    You guys are too funny!  I think it’s great that you guys like her so much.  And you know, she usually looks pretty happy in even the sneak photos the paparazzi get of her.  And yes, at 97 you should still be jammin’ to her music!
