Besides the football game, I spent a lot of the weekend working on projects.
I'm debating if I'm going to start selling stuff on etsy, or not.
It's a battle with my self-esteem.
"No, you aren't that good. No one would buy this crap you do."
and then..
"Hey! This came out good…I wonder if I could sell this? That'd be cool to make money so I can buy more stuff!"
back to…
"SHUT UP…your stuff SUCKS. No one would pay for it."
and on and on and on it goes…
Art is subjective, yes? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what may be beautiful to one person is ugly to another and vice versa…so thinking along those lines…I realize there is something (artistically speaking) for everyone out there and maybe my stuff is someone's idea of beautiful and just because of my crappy sense of self-worth, I could be depriving them…!!!
We can't have that, now can we??
HA!
Seriously….I think I may give it a shot and throw some things up on etsy soon.
Another reason for wanting to do this is because my sister-in-law/best friend on the planet writes poetry and she wrote a book, called Flowers Grow in Hell. And I think it is an utter sin that this book is not being read by the masses. She is so very talented. So I'm thinking if I do up some of her poems on canvases and maybe put them on etsy, that might be a start to get people noticing her book….can't hurt to try, anyway!
This canvas is based on the title of her book…."Flowers Grow in Hell" and it's from one of her poems, of the same title. These two lines from her poems are the most freakin' BRILLIANT sentences I have ever read in my life…."I'm here to prove against all odds/that flowers grow in hell." The whole poem is excellent and very moving, but this statement, to me, is just huge. It says so much with so little….
Another look….
This canvas is inspired by a paperweight I saw in a magazine (that Ceci wound up buying me for Christmas!)…
The door is made from clay….I was impressed at how it came out! Go me!! lol
These letters I bought at Joann's and were plain wood and I painted/sanded/sealed them over the weekend.
I love when something comes out exactly as I envision it….
This card is for Emerald's birthday on the 29th. I cannot BELIEVE she is turning 13. Ugh!! Where does the time GO??
So, as you can see…I was a busy little bee this weekend!
Getting so much done, actually puts me in the mood to create more….
(that's a sorta, kinda warning that there might be more of these types of posts coming! ha!)
Off to watch Medium or try to kick Zak's butt at backgammon.
We haven't decided yet.
