In Jaime's classroom they have the kids broken off into reading groups.
The are grouped by their reading levels.
On Tuesdays I volunteer in Jaime's classroom from about 9:15am until lunchtime, 12:30pm.
This Tuesday some of the kids were assessed on their sight words. These words are words they should know by looking at them, they shouldn't have to sound them out or anything. Once they get these sight words, they should improve their reading, obviously.
I assessed some kids and the student teacher assessed the rest of them. She assessed Jaime and Jaime got them all!!! Every one of them! 🙂
So the teacher decided to assess her reading and my little Miss Smarty Pants jumped about 5 levels in her reading!!!
She is now reading at a second grade level!!!
I AM SO FREAKIN' PROUD OF HER!!!!!

There are moments that I am so proud of her, I could just cry. lol.
This was one of those times….

The teacher says she is a good writer, too. And that is just going to make school so much easier for her, if she is good at reading and writing.
I am THRILLED for that little girl of mine and I just had to share!!

[this is good] My new friend,

How cute are you! I am so proud of your Jaime! Sounds like she has a fantastic mom and you should absolutely take (some) credit in her achievements! Yippie! Here is too accelerated reading! Next stop, she’ll be running the White House! (Hopefully there won’t be any more Clinton’s in there!)

I just read your profile. I knew I already liked you because of Jen, but now I like you even MORE because you are from my hometown! Nothing like a Masshole to keep everything together!!! When are u moving back home? I am so jealous… stuck here i  Jerzee (not that bad but no Boston). Go Pats! xo

Wait to be jealous until I actually GET there! lolNo worries..YET. It’s been so long and I want it SO BAD that I won’t believe I’m really going home until I step off the stupid plane…LOLWhat part of Boston, anyway?Southie, Dorchester and Roxbury for me….Roxbury was brief but I still have family that lives there. My upbringing was mostly Dorchester. My nana lived in Southie, on the beach and I went to South Boston High…but we pretty much grew up in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester.
